Barn Owl

CA$125.00

4x6” on 140lb watercolour paper.

The painting that inspired my birdtober project for 2023. For this painting I took special care to focus on simplicity with the paint, and the beauty of this majestic bird.

Here are some facts about the Barn Owl for you to enjoy:

Location: All continents except Antarctica. Despite its widespread distribution, the barn owl is considered an endangered species both federally and provincially (Ontario).

Length: 14-20”, with a 3.5 foot wingspan.

Lifespan: Typically, 4 years.

Fun Fact: The Barn Owl has excellent low-light vision, and can easily find prey at night by sight. But its ability to locate prey by sound alone is the best of any animal that has ever been tested. It can catch mice in complete darkness in the lab, or hidden by vegetation or snow out in the real world.
