Cape Batis
4x6” on paper
Day 18 of my birdtober challenge to paint one bird for every day of October.
These study paintings helped me explore various birds found around the world. Daily painting practice always to helps refine skill and improve observation. I enjoyed becoming more familiar with these beautiful birds. I practiced implementing a balance of accuracy, and creation of art through value, just enough detail, and loose brushwork of water and colour. My hope is that they bring the outdoors inside your home and instill a love and reverence for God’s incredible creations.
Each painting is 4x6”, painted on 140lb watercolour paper.
Here are some Cape Batis facts for you to enjoy….
Location: Southern Africa.
Length: About 12-14 cm.
Lifespan: Not well-documented.
Fun Fact: They are active and agile insect hunters, often seen flitting around in pairs.
